The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is making it more difficult for the public to track private airplanes belonging to celebrities such as Taylor Swift.

Owners of private aircrafts may now submit requests to have their personal information, including names and addresses, withheld from the public and not available on FAA websites.

Social media accounts have used the FAA registry to track private planes and fuel usage for stars and politicians including Swift, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and more.

In December 2023, the “Cruel Summer” singer’s legal team sent cease-and-desist letters to University of Central Florida student Jack Sweeney, who had been tracking her private plane and sharing its location on Instagram and Threads.

Sweeney’s lawyer argued in response that “there is nothing unlawful about [his] use of publicly accessible information to track private jets, including those used by public figures like Taylor Swift.”

Carrie Underwood praises 18-year-old ‘American Idol’ contestant as ‘Taylor Swift-esque’

Look what Zaylie Windsor made Carrie Underwood do.

When the 18-year-old “American Idol” contestant auditioned with her original song “The Used” for the ABC show’s judges on Sunday, Underwood pointed out the performer’s “Taylor Swift-esque” quality.

Luke Bryan was on the fence, but Underwood gushed, “I’m impressed at the song. … I feel like you’ve got a lot of artistry in there.”

She speculated that the teenager — who even looks a bit like Swift — had “a lot of other things in her arsenal that she could bring to the table,” explaining, “She doesn’t have [a] giant vibrato belt-y voice. But there’s something in there.”

Swifties had mixed feelings about Underwood’s comment via X — but host Ryan Seacrest gave his stamp of approval.

“Zaylie’s already winning after being compared to @taylorswift13,” he tweeted.

The pop star, 35, has yet to react to the comparison.
